Accreditation of Language Competence

Chancellor resolution February 22nd 2013 that regulates the procedures of acquisition, and the accreditation of language competences demanded by the Bachelor and the Master. 

Definition

Every student must confirm, when they finish their studies their language competences, a minimum Level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This corresponds to the independent user.

Regulations

The University Andalusian Council has to follow the guideline that come from the European Council, in order to pattern the Bachelor's Degrees establishing transversal and common competences to every Bachelor. For this purpose, it was agreed that learning foreign languages must be considered as a transversal competence, which must be included en every Bachelor of Andalusia.    

Common European Framework of Reference for Languages

This is a model that belongs to the project of linguistic policy of the European Council, and it has unified the guideline for education and the language teaching within and European Context. There are several levels to check the progress of the students in every stage of learning. The stages are:  

  • Basic User.- A1, A2
  • Independent User.- B1, B2
  • Proficient User.- C1, C2
Situations that can lead to Recognition. 

Equalisation.- It is established a conversion table (Attached I) approved by the "Language Institute", according to the Common European Framework. Also, it will be included the accreditation certificate intermediate level in Official Language Schools, as well as the the recognition of modern languages that have at least 120 class hours included in the plan of studies of the Universities.
